Öffentliche Toiletten sind als Bausteine der sozialen Infrastruktur aus dem Gefüge unseres öffentlichen Raumes nicht wegzudenken. Gleichzeitig sind die stillen Örtchen oft vernachlässigt oder gar geschlossen, manchmal kostenpflichtige Premium Aborte.
Die Potentiale dieser sozialen Infrastruktur zu aktivieren ist Ziel dieses Seminares. Wir werden an einem konkreten Beispiele in München, dem ehemaligen Brausebad bzw. Bedürfnisanstalt am Bavariaring 5, das aktuell leersteht, ein Konzept für eine Verbesserung der aktuellen Situation entwickeln und darstellen. Wie können poetische Raumqualitäten trotz komplexer technischer und funktionaler Aspekte, die auf engstem Raum abgewickelt werden, enstehen.
Wie kann man folgenden Aspekten gerecht werden:
Gestaltung – Funktionaltät – Zugänglichkeit – universal design – Innenraum – öffentlicher Raum – Strapazierfähigkeit – Sicherheit – Betreiberkonzepte – Multifunktionale Nutzung……

Konzepte für bezahlbare Kunstateliers gesucht: Verein »mehrraumkunst« veranstaltet Podiumsdiskussion

In München, der Stadt mit den höchsten Mietpreisen im Bundesgebiet, ist ihre Situation besonders fatal. Nach wie vor gibt es viel zu wenig erschwingliche Ateliers. Dass die Lage aber nicht aussichtslos ist, zeigte eine Diskussion im Kunstpavillion im Alten Botanischen Garten, zu der der Verein „mehrraumkunst“ eingeladen hat, ein Zusammenschluss von 30 Künstlern und Künstlerinnen, die von 2011 bis 2016 im städtischen Atelierhaus Baumstraße gearbeitet  haben.
Raum für Kunst unter Brücken?
Die Podiumsgäste stellten unterschiedliche Ansätze vor, wie Raum für neue Ateliers in München generiert werden könnte. Von den Otto-Steidle-Ateliers, die unter einer Fußgängerbrücke an der Ganghoferstraße im Westend entstanden sind, berichtete Philipp Hlousek von der Fondara Immobilien AG. Hier schuf die Landeshauptstadt München Baurecht für »minderwertigere« Ateliernutzung, wo zuvor kein Baurecht bestand. Ingenieurbauwerke, denen Baurecht abgerungen werden könnte, so Hlousek, gebe es vielfach in München. Auch leer stehende Gebäude könnten als Zwischennutzungen für Kunstateliers zur Verfügung gestellt werden.
Ateliers mit erschwinglichen Mieten
Die städtische Wohnungsbaugesellschaft Gewofag schafft, wie Prokurist Günther Schabenberger berichtet, seit 1928 neben Wohnungen auch Ateliers und Wohnateliers in ihren Bauprojekten. Diese Tradition sollte, wie sich ein Zuhörer wünschte, dem Grundsatz König Ludwigs folgend – »In jedem Neubau muss ein Atelier geschaffen werden« – längst etabliert sein. Konkret fordern die »mehrraumkunst«-Mitglieder, dass im Planungs- und Baurecht der Bau von Ateliers verankert werden sollte.
Ein Hochaus mit Ateliers könnte als Sofortmaßnahme mit Signalwirkung der Auftakt sein, schlägt Martina Günther, Architektin und Mitglied von »mehrraumkunst«, vor. Auf lange Sicht sollten Atelierräume im gesamten städtischen Gefüge verankert werden.  Hier gelte es, Berührungsängste abzubauen.

Die »mehrraumkunst«-Mitglieder auf dem Podium appellierten an Marc Gegenfurtner vom Kulturreferat, dass die Stadt für den Bau von Ateliers die Bau- und Genehmigungsvorschriften flexibler gestalten sollte, ähnlich wie beim Sofortprogramm für Flüchtlingsunterkünfte 2015/16. Denn Unterstützung für die Künstler müsse schnell kommen, fordert Künstlerin Katharina Weishäupl von »mehrraumkunst«, sonst würden noch mehr Kollegen aufgeben oder aus der Stadt wegziehen.
Einig waren sich Podiumsgäste und Publikum, dass, verglichen mit  der Relevanz, die der Kunst in München beigemessen wird, die Künstler zu wenig Unterstützung erfahren.
